Busted! We are working on something incredibly cool and other people think so too :)
We've spent the last few years in stealth and we've finally come out to demonstrate our technology. Some nice mentions of us in the press include:
We have a lot of people to thank, including our investors, Spring Singapore and StartX. Not to mention InfoComm Investments and ST Engineering for their generous prizemoney sponsorship of the recent Techventure 2014 Pitch Competition, which we won!
Here we are at @1197is. Our little coming out party, and we're having a blast!
The day kicked off with @johndeguzman on how @NYCBaton is becoming a real community, building trust among participating photographers and sharing experiences about documenting everyday life in New York City through mobile photography. In a digital world where we are all worried about safeguarding our passwords, isn't it refreshing to hear that there is enough trust around to give out the entire account for a day?
Then great takeaways from:
These are incredible individuals that have followed their passion, raised the money, found the courage to blaze the trail and make a difference in the world. It was inspiring to see.
More in a few hours!!

Here at DynaOptics, our goal is to help mobile photographers create the best images possible. Optical zoom provides more flexibility while maintaining image quality. You deserve the best. You shouldn't have to lose pixels when you want to get in closer.
Below is what we mean by "losing pixels". We conducted a little test to see how digital zoom impacts image quality and your viewing experience.
First, we took two types of pictures with the iPhone 5, one with no zoom, and the other with 4X digital zoom. Then we displayed photographs on the following devices:
This isn't great, is it? We want to make you proud when you show off your pieces of art. Help us bring optical zoom into your mobile phone today!

"DynaOptics holds great promise. The ultimate goal of a camera phone is to equal the image quality of the dedicated "point and shoot" camera. DynaOptic's optical zoom is one of the key components to making that a reality. Even better is the fact that their technology is based on well known and economically viable manufacturing techniques. I am excited to be working with this extraordinary team."
We are so excited to have Len on board! His advice has already borne fruit, and we have no doubt that he will bring his tremendous expertise to bear as we take this technology to market. Len was the CEO of four private companies, and successfully turned them into public entities through acquisition. Enough said. See his bio here. Welcome Len!
At the end of the day, consumer is KING. What you want, and how much you a really want it, is what matters.
So we've put together together a short survey to get a sense of your preferences. Do you like your current digital zoom image quality? Do you have a point and shoot camera? Do you print your photos? Just how much zoom would cause you to buy a new phone? How much would you be willing to pay for optical zoom? How would you trade off image quality vs. zooming range?
Your responses will help inform the phone manufacturers of market demand, and guide our product development. We can't thank you enough for sharing your thoughts. As a show of appreciation, we'll send you a nice note and give you a chance to win a DynaOptics-inspired t-shirt or tote bag.
Thank you! We look forward to hearing from you.
"As a photographer, I've been dying to have optical zoom in my mobile phone camera! It will completely transform the burgeoning mobile photography industry as we know it, and it is my privilege to be able to help a very talented team bring this technology to market."
Dewitt Jones, one of America's top professional photographers, has joined DynaOptics' Advisory Board! We are so very excited to have Dewitt's creativity and experience guide us as we strive to provide the best product and user experience for all mobile photographers. Twenty years as a freelance photographer for National Geographic earned Dewitt a reputation as a world class photojournalist, and he rose to the forefront of corporate creative marketing, photographing national advertising campaigns for Dewar's Scotch, Canon, and United Airlines. You can find Dewitt at his website, on facebook, or on twitter.
Because I am a big fan of Steve Blank, and believe deeply in customer development, DynaOptics is getting out of the building to speak with mobile photographers! We'd like to learn about what you want and don't want in your cameras in your mobile phones, and we'll also like to see instances here you would have LOVED to have optical zoom in your phones.
So here's the beginning of the conversation. Get in touch with us @dynaoptics, or with #iwantopticalzoomnow.
We'll also be at the premier mobile photography conference, 1197.is in New York. Find us there!
I had the pleasure of seeing Shawn Colvin at Yoshi's in San Francisco last night. Her voice is so wonderfully mellow and haunting, all at the same time. It was a small cozy, cabaret style venue with about 250 people, and we sat upstairs, in clear view of the folk star. I whipped out my iPhone 4S.
Terrible pixelation in low light. I want optical zoom now! And so the tag is born. #iwantopticalzoomnow
